What is VPN? A plain guide before you buy

A virtual private network is a tunnel to a server run by someone else. Everything useful and everything risky comes from that one fact.

The short version

A virtual private network, or VPN, is a connection that carries your internet traffic to a server first and out to the websites from there. The sites you visit see the server's address, not the address your home or mobile network gave you. Your network operator sees that you are connected to the server, not the pages you open through it.

What it changes and what it does not

Two things change. The address a site sees is different, and the path between your device and the server is wrapped so that people on the same Wi-Fi, such as in a cafe, cannot read it.

Several things do not change. You still log in as yourself to any account, so that site knows who you are. Your browser still carries its own marks. And the server operator can see where the traffic goes, because it sits in the middle. The tunnel moves your trust from your network operator to the VPN operator. That is why the operator's data policy matters more than its marketing.

What to check on a service before you pay

  • What it says about logs, and where it says it.
  • How many devices a subscription covers.
  • Which server countries exist, listed plainly.
  • How the price changes at renewal.
  • Whether the connection is a standard protocol that a free client can use.
  • How you get support and how you pay.

How this looks with us

On a phone or a laptop you use a small client app, and the service gives you a link to import. Ours is a VLESS subscription link. You request it from the Telegram bot and it comes back after roughly a minute; no account, email or password is involved. The same link can sit on as many of your devices as you like. We keep no logs. Traffic is unlimited.

The five server cities are in the Netherlands, Italy, Portugal, the UAE and Malaysia. Nothing is hosted in India, so a connection through us never shows an Indian address. Any of several free clients can import the link.

Why this page exists on a sale site

Read the definition before you pay, not after. If you are buying during a seasonal sale, move on to the deal checklist and the page on renewal traps. Our own prices do not change on Black Friday or Cyber Monday.

A seller explaining its own product is not a neutral party, so every check in the list above is one you can run on any seller's page without trusting us. Drafting used an AI tool, and the text was read afterwards against how the service really works.

What this is not

A VPN is not a promise of anonymity, and it does not protect a device that already has malware. It also does not make an action lawful. Rules differ by country and change over time, and answering to local law and to the terms of each service you use stays your job. Where a service is limited in your region by its owner or by law, a VPN is not a licence to ignore that.

Questions

How would you explain a VPN to someone who has never used one?
Our reply

It is a private route for your traffic through a server run by someone else, so sites see that server's address and your network sees only the connection to it.

Does a virtual private network make me anonymous?
Our reply

No. Accounts, cookies and the server operator still know things about you. It narrows who sees what, nothing more.

Is a VPN worth it on a phone during the sale week?
Our reply

It comes down to how you use the connection. It helps most on shared or public Wi-Fi, where other people can see unprotected traffic. At home on a trusted network the benefit is smaller.

Is a VPN an app or a website?
Our reply

It is a service, used through an app or client. Some sellers add a browser extension that covers browser traffic only.

How do I set it up on Android?
Our reply

Install a free client, then paste or scan the subscription link from the bot. Per-device steps live on the Android page of this site.

Will everyday browsing feel slower once a VPN is on?
Our reply

It adds a step, so some effect is possible, and it varies by network and server. Speed tables are not something this insert prints.
