Phone first, then everything else
Most of the work is the same on every Android device: install a client, copy the link from the bot, add it as a subscription, tap connect. Where Android differs is how you get the client. Google Play is the first place to look. If it is missing there for your phone, the developer's release page is the next one, and an APK from anywhere else is a risk you should price in before you click.

Free is cheap, but check who is paying
If you search for free VPN software for Android, ask of every app that costs nothing how it earns. Servers, bandwidth and support cost money, so a free app earns somewhere else. Game proxies and APK ads
If a search result pushes a game-specific proxy APK, we do not recommend downloading a modified game file or a "proxy server" package from a random page; the file can carry anything, and an account in an online game is easy to lose. Treat any promise of a faster game server through a downloaded APK as unverified until you see a measurement from a source you can open yourself.
